When does safety during training begin?

Safety during training begins in the classroom because this is the initial environment where learners are educated about the principles of safety, risk management, and the expectations for behavior both during training and in the field. In the classroom, instructors can instill the importance of safety protocols, educate trainees on potential hazards, and set the tone for a culture of safety that continues throughout the training process.

While safety considerations do exist at the training site, during travel, and throughout operations, the foundational training and instilling of safety knowledge occurs first in the classroom setting. This is where participants are made aware of the risks they may encounter, how to mitigate these risks, and the necessary precautions to take, laying the groundwork for safe practices as they progress to more hands-on experiences.
